Software Developer Internship/Training @ TOPdesk

Jun 2011 – Aug 2011

3 month summer project developing a custom form creation tool for the consultants at TOPdesk, in their custom front-end DSL: mango.

This project was actually intended for people with software development experience, but I got in by displaying my eagerness to learn and analytical mindset. Though I had a tough time getting used to programming in Java, I succeeded in learning the syntax and being a decent programmer. Along with this new knowledge of Java, I had my first encounter with a DSL (Domain Specific Language): mango.

Mango was their take on creating graphical interfaces with Java, which was not really easy at the time. This resulted in the team learning a new way of looking at interface design and we adapted our architecture to this new vision. The final product was a tool to enable the accountants to design better forms for their platform on the spot without programming.
